Dear Parents:

It gives me much pleasure to have your children in my class for this upcoming school year! We will have many diverse and entertaining activities during fourth grade, and it will be a year where students learn to be more independent and at the same time work in groups with common goals.

For example, we will continue with our reading progra. As in years past, this will help students increase their reading skills and reading fluency. Al the same time, we hope that your child will find the diverse learning programs we have created to be stimulating and enriching. For example, for each book a student in our class reads a book a "leaf" with their name will be added to our "Literacy Tree."

In addition, we will focus on math and science. Your child will learn basic algebra, using his or her understanding of multiplication which at the fourth grade is memorized and learned well. With respect to science, your child will work in groups with a common goal, taking notes, writing data, and drawing conclusions.

I hope to count on your total support in the hopes of providing for your child the ideal school year full of hard work and academic success: let us together - teacher and parent - together provide the healthy breakfasts, school assignments, homework, lectures, and ideas to make this possible.

Estimados padres de familia:

Me da mucho gusto tener a su hijo en mi clase este año escolar. Haremos cosas variadas y divertidas durante el cuarto grado. Es un año en el que los estudiantes deben ser más independientes y al mismo tiempo trabajar en grupo(s) con un meta común.

Por ejemplo, continuaremos con el programa de lectura. Como en años anteriores, también será un apoyo para su hijos en al ámbito de la lectura. Al mismo tiempo, contamos con que su hijo/a estará estimulado/a por los diversos programas que hemos creado. Por ejemplo, a cada niño que lea un libro se le hará una hoja en donde so pondrá el nombre de su hijo en nuestro "Árbol de Reconocimiento."

Además, nos enfocaremos en las matemáticas y las ciencias. Su hijo aprenderá más álgebra básica, usando su concocimiento de multiplicación; que en este nivel necesita ser memorizada. Con respecto a las ciencias, su hijo/a va a trabajar en grupos con una meta común, tomando apuntes, escribiendo datos, y sacando conclusiones.

Espero contar con su total apoyo y respaldo para el trabajo de su hijo/a para alcanzar el mayor éxito posible en esta año escolar. Apóyemos con el desayuno, trabajos, tareas, lecturas e ideas para trabajar con los estudiantes.
