I would like you to describe your favorite kind of music.
Use interesting descriptions and rich detail! First, take notes the following:

Now I would like you to write a two paragraph essay.

The first paragraph should be an introduction to the music that you like. In this paragraph, just explain 1. what it is, and 2. where you first heard the music. You may want to give the reader a quick background on that. If you don't remember, put at least something down! Also, you can pick a specific song or musician if you want.

The 2nd paragraph gives LOTS of description. Talk about the tempo (the beat), the rhythm, the instruments. Give examples! Tell where you like to listen to this music and why it is so wonderful in your opinion. Use your "Step up to Writing" information for transition words if necessary.

Although it is difficult to decide upon a specific type of music, I would have to say I very much enjoy classical music. I remember first hearing classical music as a child, and I have fond memories of waking up on a Saturday morning to the soft strains of the violin in a classical piece of music. This music makes me feel relaxed, calm and at ease.

Classical music has a way of repeating itself called "theme (the main idea) with variation (change)". This means that the tempo and rhythm are often a steady beat, but the melody will change slightly, as if a song were shedding its skin and keeping the same body. My favorite composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, not only because of his lively melodies, but also because of his genius. I find it amazing to think that Mozart began to compose his own music at the age of five years old and wrote his first opera at 13! Clearly, classical music and specifically Mozart have made the world a richer place.
