When students enter fourth grade, it is expected that they know to automaticity their multiplication tables to ten. In fourth grade, students will continue the multiplication process using multidigit numbers. The expectations in math are highly ambitious, therefore students must practice diligently.

Some other concepts students will learn include:

  • Place value in the millions
  • Writing decimal and fraction equivalents
  • Multiplying a multidigit number by a multidigit number
  • Negative numbers
  • Prime numbers
  • Algebraic formulas
  • Perimeter and area
  • x- and y- coordinate graphing
  • Distinguishing geometric solids
  • Identifying different triangles and quadrilaterals
  • Bilateral and rotational symmetry
  • Probability and statistics

Students will use the Harcourt Math textbook, Excel Math, and supplementary hands-on manipulatives and assignments to assist them in the understanding of the aforementioned concepts.
